Book of Dungeon - A dungeon-scrawler draw-and-play adventure book
Book of Dungeon Gold Mining addition. Use with any book and pick up some gold!

Gold variant (Optional Rules) use with any Book of Dungeon!

Would you like to add a new layer of treasure-hunting to Book of Dungeon? Try the Gold variant!.

To use this mode, simply click the Gold Plotter button (below) once for each dungeon you play. The plotter will randomly place three gold piles on the 10×10 map grid. Mark these gold piles on your dungeon map before you begin. You can only pick up the gold once per pile, so cross it off as you.

Add the gold you collect to your final score.

Book of Dungeon crossroad path

Note: Each gold deposit is a crossroad, so no need to roll for a path.

Rule changes

Gold piles:
If you reach a gold pile, roll 2 dice to see how much gold you collect.

Monster rewards:
If you kill a monster with 6–9 health, take 1 item or roll 2 dice for gold. If it had 10+ health, take 1 item plus 4 dice of gold.

Chests:
If you find a chest, take 1 item or roll 2 dice for gold.

Finally, use the score board below, instead of the one in the book.

Good luck explorers!

Fred’s (gold-plated) Dungeon Performance Review

(Gold Addition Scoring Chart)

200+ – Fred’s Favourite
Fred is… impressed. This almost never happens. Your portrait now hangs above his fireplace as proof that miracles do occur.
150–199 – Respected Guest
Fred grants you an honoured seat at his dinner table. No portrait above the fire, but the chair cushions are surprisingly comfortable.
125–149 – Bearer of Small Glory
Your name will be remembered. In very small print.
100–124 – Forgotten Hero
Fred rewards you with his mushroom stew. The taste is… unforgettable. Fortunately, the shame fades faster.
75–99 – Dungeon Disaster
Not the stuff of legends — more the stuff of warnings. Fred quietly shows you out through the back door so no one witnesses your retreat.
50–74 – Boot Polisher
You didn’t impress, but you tried. Your new job is shining Fred’s boots until the next failed adventurer arrives to take your place.
0–49 – Dungeon Decor
Your performance suggests you might be more useful as ambience. Fred offers you a choice of roles: corner skeleton or dramatic warning piece propped at the entrance.
